Course Description: This course will educate and supply information regarding the preliminary field identification of illegal and diverted legal drugs, as well as associated paraphernalia to law enforcement personnel. The course should serve as a tool and aid in the identification of drugs, aimed at the reduction of usage an illicit sale. The course provides for definitions of basic drug terminology and the scheduling of drugs based on Controlled Substance ACT (CSA). Information will be provided on the chemical make-up of controlled substances as well as the manner in which they are produced for human consumption. This course will describe the manner in which the controlled substances are introduced into the human body and physical reactions caused by their use.
Instructor: Joe Pannullo recently retired Police Officer with the LasVegas Metropolitan Police Department where he worked for 21 years. Joe spent the last 17 1/2 years as a Detective assigned to the Narcotics Section. During his 17 1/2 years in the Narcotics Section, he was assigned to the Clandestine Lab Team, Street Level Narcotics Team, a sworn Federal Task Force Officer (TFO) assigned to a DEA Task Force for 5 years and Training Coordinator for the Narcotics Section. Joe worked undercover for 10 years both on the Street Team dealing with low & mid-level dealers as well as working undercover on the DEA Task Force dealing with mainly Cartel Drug Trafficking Organizations (DTO). Joe is a certified expert witness by the courts for clandestine drug labs, undercover operations and general narcotics related operations.
